Sing as you want, not just as you can!

Student Testimonials

He helped me get past years of poor technique. He made it possible for me to sing a high G well, and for as long as I wanted, 8 shows a week. He is a sensitive singing coach who finds the right vocabulary for each individual student.
GREGORY JBARA - Broadway: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Victor Victoria, CHICAGO; Film/TV: In And Out, Ripley's Believe It Or Not.

"Before David, I was a dancer who could hold a tune, now I am a singer, dancer, AND actor who has the desire and ability to go into any type of audition.  I have gained my confidence not only as a vocal technician, but also as a performer.  David also coached me through a vocal injury that brought me back to full vocal health and beyond.  He's a wizard!!!"
Alexis Carra - Broadway: The Pirate Queen, Wicked, Sweet Charity, Off Broadway: Fame

"Through my work with David I was able to land the big job and maintain my vocal health while out on the road.  His knowledge of the voice and its physiology are far and above anyone I have ever worked with.  Rather than giving you all sorts of imagery and "placement" jargon, he tells you exactly what is happening in your body, and what you can do to improve the range, quality, and ease of your singing.  Now that I am back off of the road I have started taking with him again, and after one lesson I have already noticed an improvement.  I highly recommend him to anyone who is serious about their vocal training."
Joe Abraham  "Hairspray" (Broadway/1st National Tour)

David Sabella, if this is possible, is over-qualified to teach singing. Opera and Braodway are his bread and butter, having performed extensively in both arenas. As a teacher, he knows how to accurately diagnose a problem and prescribe a technique to fix it. I have worked with him for over three years, and he has helped me grow into a professional, WORKING actor and singer. If you are considering switching to a new voice teacher, or new appraoch, David Sabella is your man!
Margaret Laney - Stage and TV actress

I am a soprano that needed help with technique. On the FIRST CLASS he had me singing a high C. The best I ever did was a B-flat that almost sounded like a cat dying. His instruction has given me a new lease on my singing and now, on my career. He brought out what I had in ME..not what he wanted to make me. He listened to me. He asked me what I wanted, what he could do for me, what my goals were with coming to him, then we got to work. He is excellent. I recommend him 100%. If you are looking for a coach/teacher he is wonderful. I can't stress enough that he brought out a beauty in my voice I didn’t know I had. He didn’t push, or strain my voice, but brought out what was there. I sang a High C with NO STRESS. (and could have gone higher).
GAIL FRANKEL - NYC Singer/Actress

I've been working in the musical theatre in New York (Broadway and off-Broadway), L.A., and the regions for 26 years...and I have RARELY found a vocal coach as talented, capable and committed as David Sabella. His knowledge of the voice and it's workings is COMPLETE, and his desire to help each student separately (at ANY level) is a quality unique to truly great teachers. I couldn't recommend ANYONE more highly!!!
PETER VAN NORDEN - Broadway: Little Johnny Jones Film/TV: The Accused, The Stand

“I am thoroughly impressed both by David's technical knowledge and his commitment to teaching towards type.  These qualities make him an efficient teacher who continually uses every concrete and conceptual tool at his disposal to help you find your voice.  He offers an appropriate balance of motivational praise and constructive criticism, inspiring you to sing with supreme joy and maximum health.  After working with David, your voice acquires a stamp of legitimacy that enables you to exude confidence at auditions, in the studio, and on the stage.  I truly wish I had been able to start working with him sooner.”
Nathan Freeman, Actor/Singer

"I have been working professionally for several years and was booking jobs pretty consistently, until I stumbled into one of those ruts that we all encounter in life. As I searched for something to unblock my path, I was led to David Sabella! He has helped me to break through my plateau and improve my vocal abilities. My singing is freer and easier, my range is wider and, more importantly, I am getting call backs and bookings again! David offers honest and constructive criticism to his students and cares so much about them. He has gone out of his way to aid them in their careers. If you are willing to work as hard as he will, I cannot put into words the transformation that can overcome your voice."
RICK HAMILTON, Singer/Actor, NYC

While I love to sing, I first came to David for help with public speaking and TV work. David's organic approach connects the body to the voice in the way that no one I have ever worked with previously has been able to do. David's passion for the work, commitment and attention to detail are rare not just in vocal coaching but in today's business environment. Each lesson has contained a moment of discovery, small or large, that makes this process not just practical and essential for my work but richly rewarding and personally exciting. Most importantly, I can now do a six-hour--or more--broadcast day, or consecutive full days of public speaking without needing to "recover."
